1. first singularity in evolution: the big bang. 2. cosmological evolution (from nebulae to stars; stars explode and form new stars and planets and so on until we have a galaxy clusters and solar systems with planets rich of metals) 3. second singularity in evolution: spontanious genesis (the first living organism on earth) 4. biological evolution (from the first siple organisms to more complex organisms ... for example the monkey) 5. third singularity in evolution (the beginning when the first animals develop a very special social behaviour: the families ... later on bigger populations: the culture) 6. tribes and cultural evolution (the development from simple cultures to more complex cultures: from families over tribes to nations to the globalisation we face today) 7. 4th singalarity in evolution (the technological singularity) (this is the time of deus ex) 8. ??? transhumanism ??? or posthumanism ??? cyborgs ??? superintelligent machines ??? no one knows, because this is the definition of a singularity... As you see. We already skipped the biological evolution. We have manually to augment our children by teaching them in schools. This is called cultural evolution. Cultural Evolution overtakes biological evolution today (cultural evolution is faster!). The increase of speed in evolution is another constant: 1. cosmological evolution (veryyyyy slow. millions of millions of years) 2. biological evolution (faster, but still veryyy slow) 3. cultural evolution (much faster, only a few 10.000 years) 4. technological evolution (we face it today, the last 200 years) The next step is the technological singularity. The time of Deus Ex. Maybe cyborgs? Maybe something else. Again, no one can know ~> singularity. Of course this is oversimplified. Evolution is a super-parallel process. It acts everywhere and to everytime, but maybe sometimes spererated in space and/or time. for example: many galaxies at the same time. some galaxies developed faster, some slower. many planets at the same time, not only earth. many species at the same time on one planet. many cultures at the same time in one species. And these stages of course are mixed together, too. Biological evolution and cultural evolution had to occur at the same time. They need each other. No of these stages ever stop. cosmological evolution does not stop: stars are still growing out there and our sun will some day die. biological evolution does not stop: it is only very slow compared to the cultural evolution. etc. evolution is NOTonly biological evolution!
